Fire Chief Unmarked Vehicle May 2011
In June 2010, the City Council authorized spending $46,565 of AB2766 funds to purchase a hybrid Chevrolet Silverado truck for the Fire Department. (See staff report)
The City has also purchased a Chevrolet hybrid pick-up for the Public Works Dept and a Ford Escape Hybrid for the building inspector. Both vehicles have City seals and identification on them and remain at City Hall during non-working hours.

On June 14, 2010, the City Warrants show payment of $46,565 for the Fire Dept vehicle.
On August 8, 2010, the City Manager made a written offer (see here) to Gary Dominguez for appointment as part-time Fire Chief, for $100 per hour, with maximum of 960 hours per year, which is less than 20 hours per week.
The City's offer included Free use of a City Vehicle, a Gas Card, and other amenities.

Mr. Dominguez signed the offer on August 12, 2010 and started work on September 1, 2010. City Warrants show an additional expenditure of $1,316.96 for a Bed Cover for the Chief's Vehicle on November 10, 2010.
As of this writing, the Vehicle does not have any City markings or markings identifying it as a Fire Department Vehicle and is available for the Chief to use as transport to and from the City.
